With everything going wrong, it’s good to recognize and bolster ourselves on whatever is going right. Today, it’s this perfect, peaceful cat nap happening in the midst of a stupid work meeting.
The culture-wars approach to museums seems to me to be related to the assumption that museums are, or should be, the caretakers of singular, true and timeless narratives. Cranbrook’s mid-century modern exhibit was full of so many incredibly beautiful things and ideas. Something I especially appreciated was how much attribution and credit the women were given for their pioneering work in the movement. Really inspiring.
