Missives from the dark forest.
The first really cold evening came early this year but that didn’t stop us from enjoying the skeleton festival.
Phantom Hurri-pains
Ian is the first major hurricane hitting my hometown since I moved away. I spent all yesterday helping to coordinate emergency alert information on the university website. I chatted with family, friends, and coworkers about their plans for evacuating or “hunkering down.”
Even though I’m safely across the country, my mind can’t help but keep putting me there, telling me to check my batteries, fill up water jugs, take in plants, etc. It’s a very strange feeling to live in two places at once.
Managed to catch the dramatic part of today’s sunrise before it was reclaimed by the grey.
We’ve entered that part of the season where I can’t tell if it’s time to put my shorts and t-shirts away for the year or not?
